QUANTITATIVE TRENDS AND PATTERNS OF CREATIVE ECONOMY DIVERSIFICATION IN BALI’S TOURISM VILLAGES

Abstract

Creative economy diversification has emerged as a crucial strategy for strengthening the economic resilience of Bali’s tourism villages, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic revealed the vulnerability of relying heavily on international tourist arrivals. This research analyzes quantitative trends in Bali’s creative economy, focusing on craft, culinary, and performing arts subsectors from 2015 to 2024. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the study draws on secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Bali Provincial Tourism Office. Results indicate an average annual growth of 6.8 percent in Bali’s creative economy value, with craft contributing the most (48%), followed by culinary (28%) and performing arts (12%). The number of tourism villages increased from 45 in 2015 to 140 in 2024, reflecting a structural expansion of community-based tourism. A positive correlation (r = 0.72) between tourist arrivals and creative economy output underscores the interdependence between tourism activity and creative production. The findings reaffirm the strategic role of creative economy diversification in reinforcing sustainable, community-driven tourism development in Bali.
